General DescriptionFine black powder.
Insoluble in water.
Reactivity ProfileAcid Violet 49 neutralizes acids in weakly exothermic reactions to form salts plus water. May be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides, and acid halides. May generate hydrogen, a flammable gas, in combination with strong reducing agents such as hydrides.
Possible carcinogen.
Health HazardACUTE/CHRONIC HAZARDS: When heated to decomposition Acid Violet 49 emits very toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sodium oxide and sulfur oxides.
Flash point data for Acid Violet 49 are not available; however, Acid Violet 49 is probably combustible.
Safety ProfileConfirmed carcinogen with experimental carcinogenic and tumorigenic data. Mutation data reported. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of NOx, NH3, Na2O, and SOx.
